Installation Instructions

BigHorn™ Ramp Installation Guide

Congratulations on your new BigHorn™ Ramp! Designed for durability and easy access, these ramps are made from 100% recycled plastic and manufactured in the United States. Follow the steps below to ensure a smooth and secure installation.

Before You Begin

  1. Measure the Threshold Height:

    • Measure the height of your door threshold or patio landing to ensure the ramp fits properly.

    • If the height exceeds 1-1/2 inches, use the optional Shim-Johnny Kit to adjust the ramp height up to 2 inches

  2. Prepare the Surface:

    • Ensure the installation surface is dry, clean, and free of dirt and debris.

  3. Tools Needed (if adjustments are required):

    • Standard power tools (for trimming or notching the ramp if necessary).

    • Safety gear (eye protection and gloves).

Warning: Always follow the manufacturer's safety guidelines when using power tools.

Ramp Installation Instructions

  1. Dry-Fit the Ramp:

    • Place the ramp against the threshold to ensure proper fit before removing the adhesive backing.

  2. Apply the Ramp:

    • Peel off the adhesive backing from the peel-and-stick tape on the bottom of the ramp.

    • Carefully position the ramp against the threshold, ensuring the thickest end is flush with the door.

  3. Secure the Ramp:

    • Press the ramp firmly onto the surface to create a strong bond.

    • For best results, place a heavy object on the ramp for 15-20 minutes to enhance adhesion.

Shim-Johnny Kit Installation (For Thresholds Over 1-1/2")

  1. Measure the Threshold:

    • Determine the height difference to know how much shim material is needed.

  2. Cut the Shim Strips:

    • Trim the thick end of the shim strips to the required thickness using scissors or a utility knife.

  3. Position the Shims:

    • Peel the backing from the Shim strips.

    • Space the strips evenly on the installation surface across the ramp's length.

  4. Attach the Ramp:

    • Remove the adhesive backing from the BigHorn™ Ramp.

    • Place the ramp on top of the shim strips, ensuring the thick end is flush with the door threshold.

  5. Secure the Bond:

    • Apply firm pressure to the ramp and shims.

    • Place a heavy object on top for 15-20 minutes to ensure proper adhesion.
